21st Century Curriculum
21st Century Curriculum is a common conversation today among educators. In this episode Dr. Steve Wyckoff, Kevin Honeycutt, Ginger Lewman and Tamara Konrade have a lively discussion about “algorithmic curriculum” and “heuristic curriculum” based on the discussion of algorithmic and heuristics in Dan Pink’s Book Drive.
Kevin grew up in poverty and attended school in many cities across the United States. As he witnessed education around the country he collected powerful experiences that still influence his conversations and his work with educators. He spent 13 years teaching art K-12 in public school and for 17 years spent summers leading creative adventure camps for kids of all ages. In 1991 he received the Making IT Happen Award which is an internationally recognized awards program for educators and leaders in the field of educational technology integration in K–12 schools. The program identifies and rewards educational technology leaders around the world for their commitment and innovation.
Ginger provides dynamic and hands-on learning for those interested in providing engaging professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, parents, and communities. She specializes in Project Based Learning, Technology Integration, Creativity, and Gifted & High Ability Learners and is ready to come to your community!
Tamara is the Director of Professional Learning at ESSDACK, an educational service center in Hutchinson, KS since July 2012. With nearly two decades of experience in the school systems she brings with her an understanding and compassion for student learning. Tamara was the Director of Student Learning at Valley Center School District in Kansas for four years where she had the opportunity to work with dedicated professionals, leading curriculum, instruction, and assessment decisions. Prior to joining the Valley Center Team, she was an educational consultant for ESSDACK for three years and the Inman K-6 building principal for five years. Tamara started her career in McPherson, KS working as an elementary classroom teacher and district literacy coach. The skills that she brings with her are the ability to communicate the significance of authentic learning, collaborate with district personnel to plan and implement systemic change, and use technology to create, communicate and collaborate. Tamara’s leadership skills are advantageous since she excels at facilitating and guiding groups in establishing and reaching their goals.
